17 Thousand Dollars And Six Ribs Later, This Kansas City Woman Is About To Become Actual Royalty

In shocking news to absolutely no one, the world of extreme body modifications just got even more extreme.

A 27-year-old Kansas City resident, Emily James, just spent $17,000 to have six ribs removed — and what she’s planning to do with them will leave you speechless.

James is planning to turn her removed ribs into a crown. Because apparently that’s a thing now…

“I plan on having someone make a crown out of them,” James told Caters News, explaining that she had initially considered gifting the bones to her best friend.

During her recovery, James had to wear a corset 24/7 to help with swelling, though she reported her pain level was only at a 2 out of 10, thanks to her medical team’s expertise.

“They let me keep the ribs and I was initially going to gift them to my best friend,” James said. Emily James / CATERS NEWS

The story takes a dark turn when you hear some of the suggestions James received from social media users.

While some suggested turning the ribs into everything from chew toys to bone broth, James firmly shut down any cannibalistic proposals, noting that “eating human meat can cause a plethora of disorders that are fatal.”

The internet had plenty to say about James’s unusual decision. But she’s standing firm in her choices, pointing out that many people undergo various forms of cosmetic surgery. “It is my money, my body and I’m going to do what I want with it,” she stated.

According to Caters News, James has been documenting her entire journey on social media, from pre-surgery preparations to her current recovery process.

She even joked about having an “Emily barbecue” before the procedure, proving that at least she’s keeping her sense of humor about the whole situation.

Surprisingly (not), the internet remains divided on this unique approach to body modification and medical souvenir keeping. But James continues to focus on her recovery and her future plans for her very personal crown jewels.

Remember folks: while removing ribs for cosmetic purposes might be an extreme choice, it’s worth noting that body modification is a personal decision. Though maybe next time, consider keeping the photo album instead of the actual body parts?
