Colorado-based police officer Shannon Lofland chose to feature in porn movies to make quick money as she was ‘drowning in debt’. However, she had to resign soon after the police department came across her videos which led the team to launch an internal investigation.
A 21-year veteran of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Lofland told CBS News Colorado that she turned to the world of adult cinema because her finances had soured and she couldn’t keep up.
“I was desperate, I was drowning. I found a legal, lucrative means for providing the support for my family that I needed at that time to save my home and feed them,” the New York Post quoted her as telling the station. The 44-year-old ran the department’s driving academy.

Without informing her employer, the Colorado deputy resigned last week. Lofland, however, admitted that she probably broke internal norms that require employees to take prior nod when looking to work side jobs.
“It was a violation of policy to not request permission to work secondary employment. I know that, and I knew that … it could be considered a double life,” Lofland told NY Post.
Trouble mounted for the 44-year-old wife and mother in June 2023 when storm left her home with damage worth $5,00,000 – which the insurance company wouldn’t cover. She claimed that the rising interest rates also tripled her mortage and that it was sheer desperation that made her pick adult films for a secondary job.
“Some may judge and say there are better ways to make money, but at the time I had no other lucrative means for doing so,” Lofland said, adding that her husband supported her decision.
According to CBS, Lofland has not ruled out making more adult videos which, she claims, helped her make enough money to cover the mortgage in times of crisis. She also claimed that the adult film industry was ‘professional’ enough that she never experienced any pressure or coercion.
The 44-year-old said she loved her job as Colorado sheriff’s deputy and the work she did over for over two decades. “I found my niche in the law enforcement world as a support role. I have been dedicated and loyal,” she said.
