In a disturbing case that has shocked the typically peaceful Dutch town of Zundert, a woman’s discovery of her husband’s five-year affair led to an assault that sounds more like a horror movie than real life.

According to Mirror, the perpetrator, identified only as Halima, is now facing serious consequences for an act of revenge that crossed every imaginable line.
What began with a simple phone check ended in criminal charges when Halima discovered messages revealing her husband had been carrying on a secret relationship with one of her friends for over half a decade.

But instead of confronting her husband or filing for divorce, Halima chose a different path – one that would ultimately land her behind bars.
A Calculated Trap
Working with a neighbor who would later face their own legal consequences, Halima carefully planned her revenge.
She created a ruse to lure her former friend – now revealed as her husband’s mistress – to her home.
Once the unsuspecting woman arrived, Halima and her neighbor overwhelmed her, managing to tie her up.

What followed was described by the presiding judge as “frightening and insulting” and “just absurd in Dutch society.”
Halima proceeded to assault the woman, including the horrific act of applying sambal – an extremely spicy Indonesian chili paste – to the victim’s intimate areas.
The attack also included beating the woman and forcibly shaving her head.
Justice and Consequences
The Dutch courts took swift action:

- Halima was sentenced to 160 days in prison
- She must complete 120 hours of community service
- Mandatory psychological counseling was ordered
- She must pay the victim $7,580 (€7,000) in damages
- Her neighbor received a three-month prison sentence for their role in the attack
A Complicated Aftermath
In a surprising twist during the court proceedings, Halima revealed she would give her husband another chance, citing her mother’s advice and an unexpected pregnancy.
“I wanted a divorce,” she told the court, “but I became pregnant unexpectedly.
My children are still young.”
She added what might be the most chilling line of all: “I have forgiven him, but I have not forgotten.”
While the court acknowledged the emotional trauma of discovering such a betrayal, they made it clear that vigilante justice has no place in modern society.
