Livingston Parish Teacher Pleaded Guilty in High-Profile Case

In a shocking revelation that has parents demanding answers, former Livingston Parish teacher Cynthia Perkins has admitted to one of the most disturbing violations of student trust ever documented:

Deliberately contaminating school cupcakes with her husband’s bodily fluids before feeding them to unsuspecting students. This stomach-turning confession is just one part of a larger criminal case that will likely send her to prison for 41 years.

As part of her plea agreement, Perkins admitted to three specific crimes, with the contaminated cupcake incident standing out as a particularly egregious breach of teacher-student trust.

The former educator acknowledged mixing her then-husband’s sperm into baked goods that were then served to children in her care, an act that has left the community struggling to comprehend the depth of the betrayal.

What compounds the community’s shock is that both perpetrators were in positions of authority. While Cynthia worked as a teacher, her then-husband Dennis Perkins served as a Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputy.

The couple was arrested in October 2019 and faced numerous serious charges, including two counts of first-degree rape and 60 counts of producing pornography involving juveniles under 13.

The Plea Deal

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced that Perkins’ guilty plea “spared the victims from reliving her horrific crimes during this particular trial.” The agreement dismisses 68 other charges but still carries a 41-year prison sentence.

Crucially, it requires Cynthia to testify against her ex-husband Dennis, who maintains his innocence.

Since their arrest, Cynthia has filed for divorce from Dennis, with her legal team portraying him as the mastermind behind their crimes. “He is the real monster,” her attorney stated to WLVA News, though they emphasized that Cynthia “took responsibility today.”
