A Minnesota man has been charged with creating an explosive device and making terroristic threats after allegedly attempting to booby-trap a sex toy intended for an ex-girlfriend. The incident was reported in Waseca, Minnesota on New Year’s Day.
Terry Allen Lester, 37, is accused of modifying a sex toy with gunpowder, buck shot, and a trigger mechanism concealed in the battery compartment.

According to the criminal complaint, Lester had been staying with two women, including the alleged intended victim, before being forced to leave their apartment by the landlord.
Upon his departure, Lester left behind several bags, including one marked “Christmas Gifts.”
One of his former roommates alerted authorities after Lester allegedly disclosed his intentions regarding the modified device.
Police investigators discovered the rigged device among Lester’s belongings. Captain Kris Markeson of the Waseca Police Department emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “Any time you mix electronics, gun powder and BBs, we need to make sure it is rendered safe and doesn’t harm anyone.”

According to authorities, Lester had allegedly planned to distribute similar devices to three former romantic partners with whom relationships had ended poorly.
Evidence found at the scene suggested he intended to construct two additional explosive devices.
Witnesses reported that Lester had told friends he “would pull the trigger and it would blow them up.”
While police noted the device was missing a crucial starting component, they confirmed it still retained the potential to explode.

The incident has shocked the small community of Waseca. Local business owner Tae Borne, who operates Lindner’s Liquor where Lester was a regular customer, expressed disbelief.
“I am in total shock. I could not believe it when I read it for sure. He has always been nice when he has come into the store,” Borne said.
When questioned by law enforcement, Lester denied ownership of the explosive device. He was taken into custody and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the felony charges.
Law enforcement officials credit the vigilance of Lester’s former roommates for preventing what could have been a serious incident.
